What is Purple Craion?
Purple Craion is an English language and pen-pal subscription service founded by Tamara Brathwaite. It brings back the delight of receiving handwritten letters through the post, thoughtful, personal, often travel related and full of heart.
What is the Mission?
Purple Craion reconnects readers through post; sharing stories, reflections and travels directly to your postbox rather than your inbox. It celebrates the beauty of slowing down and the nostalgia of genuine connection through the written word.
Our aim is simple: to sustainably cover the cost of stationery, printing and mailing supplies so that the art of letter writing can continue to thrive in a modern world.
What is the Pen Pal Subscription Service?
When you subscribe, you’ll receive post from Purple Craion throughout the year. Your one-time annual payment covers a year’s worth of mail, at least six postal missives, each filled with stories, reflections, and creative musings.
How do I register?
Simply complete the Purple Craion sign-up process and pay the one-time annual subscription fee.
Once registered, you’ll receive a welcome letter followed by five additional postal messages during the calendar year. Subscriptions run from January to December.
When will I receive my first letter?
Your first letter is usually mailed within two to three weeks after your subscription is confirmed. After that, letters arrive periodically throughout the year. Each one a small surprise in your mailbox.
Can I contribute a story?
Yes. From time to time, Purple Craion welcomes travel stories from writers and travellers. If you’re interested, please email us with the subject line:

Do you post internationally?
Yes! Purple Craion mails letters worldwide. We only send letters. Postage is included in your subscription fee. Please allow a few extra weeks for international delivery depending on your country’s postal system.
How can I cancel my subscription?
You may cancel at any time by sending an email to purplecraion@hotmail.com with your subscriber ID number. Please note that all cancellations are non-refundable, but there are no cancellation fees.
Can I purchase a subscription as a gift?
Yes! Purple Craion subscriptions make wonderful, thoughtful gifts. Simply select the “Gift Subscription” option during sign-up and provide the recipient’s mailing details. We’ll send a beautifully written welcome letter announcing your gift.
What about my privacy?
Your privacy is our 1 priority. We do not sell or rent any information submitted to Purple Craion. We do not share your personal contact details or display them publicly. All communication occurs exclusively through postal mail. Every new and updated subscriber profile is reviewed to maintain a safe, respectful space for all participants.
What if my letter doesn’t arrive?
If you haven’t received your letter within the expected time, please contact us through the website. Postal delays can occasionally happen and are not the responsibility of Purple Craion. If the post is not received, a follow up scan of the letter will be sent by email at the end of the subscription period.
